Mantec Receives Top Health & Safety Award
On Thursday 8 October 2026 at the annual Pledge Conference & Awards Day organised by Ceramics UK, Mantec Technical Ceramics was proud to receive the SME Health & Safety Award in recognition of its most recent comprehensive practical risk reduction project. The SME Category Award recognises company initiatives of organisations with less than 250 employees, that drive health and safety improvement in the sector.
Mantec’s Manufacturing Manager, Ben Ashmore, accepted the award on behalf of the company and commented: “We were delighted to receive this year’s SME Health & Safety Award. Over the past year, we have been working hard across our site to improve 5S, visual management, pedestrian segregation, kiln safety zones, fire extinguisher visibility, workplace organisation and overall site standards.

“A big thank you to Ceramics UK for a fantastic event and for continuing to support health and safety improvement across the ceramics industry. Thank you also to Mantec Technical Ceramics and fellow group company Doulton Water Filters for giving me the opportunity to put my stamp on the place during my first year, and to everyone who has supported and contributed to the improvements so far. There is still more to do, but this recognition shows we are moving in the right direction.”
At the event on 8 October, Ceramics UK announced its next initiative in this area – Pledge 2027-2032 – a refreshed strategy to continue improving health, safety and wellbeing across the UK ceramics industry.
