Mantec Welcomes Ben Ashmore – Manufacturing Manager
Ben joined Mantec Technical Ceramics in 2025 as Manufacturing Manager, bringing over 15 years of hands-on experience in technical ceramics, advanced manufacturing, and team leadership. He currently oversees the Porous, Puremet, and Membrane Filter departments, including the Xtract Filtration Systems division, where he is focused on driving performance, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration across all operations.
Before joining Mantec, Ben held a senior leadership role at Vesuvius (Foseco), where he successfully delivered major international projects — including the full production transfer of Stelex PrO to Turkey, and a technical visit to Toyokawa, Japan, supporting the ZR filter plant. During this visit, Ben worked closely with local teams to exchange knowledge and best practices between the UK and Japan, supporting global alignment across operations.
His expertise spans kiln operations, extrusion, filtration systems, lean manufacturing, and global supply chain coordination. He is known for creating structured, high-performance environments and leading by example across all levels of manufacturing.
Ben is passionate about 5S, visual management, safety culture, and building strong, capable teams that continuously improve. His leadership style is proactive, people-focused, and built on a foundation of operational excellence and respect.
Outside of work, Ben served as Commanding Officer of TS Stirling Sea Cadets, where he led the welfare and training of up to 32 young adults and 12 staff. He is also a qualified RYA Powerboat Instructor, responsible for safety policy, MOD stores, and scheduled monthly audits. Ben takes pride in giving back to the community, mentoring future leaders, and working as part of a team in both professional and voluntary roles.
Ben was awarded the Cadet Forces Medal for adult volunteers and instructors in recognition of 12 years of dedicated service.
